In 1960, the late founder, Taiji Inouye (1914 – 1986) established his antique shop, EDO & CO., just in front of the Fujiya Hotel in Hakone, Japan’s one of the oldest resort hotel, located at the most famous scenic spot near the Tokyo metropolitan area. EDO & CO. is a place for travelers from all over the world, who may enjoy the essence of the oriental exotic atmosphere exploring the scenic venue. This EDO & CO. opened their gallery shop up in Hakone and had thousands of guests from all over the world. His old address books marked such as Mr. James Michener( an author of ‘South Pacific’ ), Mr. Red Skelton, Mr Alain Delon, and Mr. Richard Widmark, they were all of his guests who paid visits The shop gallery has been descended after Taiji’s death to his late Wwife, Aiko Inouye, and the gallery shop itself has been closed and it was taken over by Yukichi Inouye as T. EDO INOUYE & SON oriental art Ltd., at the heart of Tokyo, Ginza area.
